Biography

Dr. Freedman has been a Research Scientist at PNNL since November of 2001. Prior to this date, she was a Post-doctoral Researcher at PNNL where she conducted research on the development and application of permeability models that describe the chemical weathering of buried low-level waste glass in the vadose zone. Currently, Dr. Freedman is involved in modeling the field-scale reactive transport of high-ionic tank stream wastes in the vadose zone at the Hanford site utilizing high performance computing. She also manages the conceptual and theoretical development of the Hanford site-wide model, as well as leads the development of its uncertainty methodology. Her most recent publications address the development of film permeability models for mineral precipitation and dissolution, and the use of a first order analysis of uncertainty to predict dry well occurrence at Hanford. In addition to this experience, Dr. Freedman has expertise in watershed simulation modeling, and has investigated the application of different inverse methods for parameter identification.
